HANDS ON HOUSEMANAGEMENT COUPLE
Large newly refurbished modern residence of overseas owners. The property has eight suites and is set in approx 7 acres of land.
The owners live abroad for a large part of the year and will visit this property a number of times per year but in a sporadic manner. It will therefore fall to the couple to manage the day to day running of the property and it is very important that the couple work closely together.
You will be required to undertake all housekeeping duties, arrange flowers, menu plan and deal with all provisioning, food purchasing and stock control. There will be occasional light cooking, one needs to be able to serve at table and deal with household administration. Occasional airport runs, caring for the cars and dealing with fleet management will also be part of the role.
The property has been finished to high spec standards and ideally one of the couple should be computer literate and be able to oversee the technical aspects of boiler and plant room.
Garden contractors will be employed, but ideally one of the couple should be willing to assist with some light gardening duties, sweeping, tidying and perhaps mowing the lawns.
The normal working week will consist of five – eight hour days, but these hours will be exceeded when the principals are in residence. The couple are able to manage their own time but must be present when the principals or their guests are in residence.
Salary £50,000 gross per annum. 28 days holiday including bank holidays.
All found 3 bedroom semi detached newly refurbished cottage available.

EXPERIENCED GARDENER/HANDYPERSON
PART TIME HOUSEKEEPER/COOK
An experienced couple are required for this rural 5 bedroom farmhouse with guest cottage in Scotland. The principles have another property in London and only spend 15-16 weeks a year at the property.
An experienced gardener is required to maintain the garden around the house and beautiful planted woodlands nearby.
Duties will include strimming, mowing and a chainsaw licence is essential.
You will also be required to do general maintenance/handy work around the property.
Partner will act as the housekeeper working 15 hours a week at times to be agreed with the owner’s wife. You will need to be a competent housekeeper with good laundry skills. You will be required to cook for the family when they are in residence, they enjoy simple English foods and you will need to have the ability to follow a recipe. You will also be required to do airport runs.
Both parties should have clean driving licences and there is a car provided for work use.
Salary £16,000 Gross per annum for the gardener and £8 per hour for the housekeeper. There is a 3 bedroom unfurnished cottage available, council tax paid but no other bills. Pets are acceptable. You will need to both be very flexible with time off when the family are in residence taking extra time off in lieu. Plenty of local fishing for those who enjoy a hobby. (REF HU1462)

A couple is required to work at a 14,000 square foot residence in Colorado. The family of 2 adults and 1 dog is in residence for approximately 6-7 months per year. The couple will be reporting to the Major Domo/Butler.
The cook/housekeeper will be cooking 3 meals a day for the family when they are in residence to good, family cook standard. The family occasionally entertains but it is not usually with large parties. You will also be responsible for helping out the full-time housekeeper in all aspects of cleaning the property.
The gardener/handyperson will be responsible for maintaining the garden and doing handy/maintenance jobs both indoors and outdoors. A gardening company is hired every year for the more horticultural and landscaping jobs. You will also be in charge of airport runs for the couple as well as driving around guests and doing shopping as required.
Candidates should be flexible. As the family are only in residence about half the year, you will be working a more full-on schedule when they are there – usually 6 days per week. When the family are not in residence, you will be working usually 5 days to week and expected to take your annual leave during this period. At least one member of the couple must be a driver, but both would be ideal.
A private double bedroom (with beautiful views of the mountains) and bathroom is provided within the staff accommodation which has a shared sitting/dining room , kitchen, and terrace. Weekend Country residence of a mature business couple and their family.
The property is seven bedrooms and stands within a large acreage of farmland and woodland. The gardens are presently managed by a contractor as until now a single house person has been employed. The current housekeeper is moving on and the owners feel that the vacancy is now best suited to a couple and hence the gardens and grounds will therefore be managed by the couple.
Duties will include all general housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, silver polishing, flower arranging and simple table service. The family are vegetarian and so a good family cook who likes to follow new recipes is desirable.
The couple should have computing skills and be able to communicate with the owners PA in London by email, manage basic accounting /admin, shop and provision by internet websites.
The gentleman will ideally have good maintenance gardening skills and be able to take care of the grounds, which includes lawn, small vegetable plot, shrubs and easy maintained beds. A number of public pathways lead through the land and you will be required to patrol the paths regularly, keeping a tidy image and ensuring no trespass. Other duties will include general house maintenance and repairs, liaison with contractors, routine swimming pool care and care of the cars and machinery.
It is essential that the couple work closely together and that the outdoor person has a willingness to assist inside with heavy cleaning and polishing. One of the couple should be able to serve at table and meet and greet family and their guests.
The owners have adult children and numerous grandchildren who visit from time to time.
Salary is negotiable depending upon experience, self contained 2 bedroom apartment in the unused stable courtyard. Car available for work use and 2 days off mid week, but with some weekends. One dog or cat may be considered. (REF HU1405)

Flexible and patient couple required to look after a large estate in Marlow for a Saudi Arabian family. The couple will be responsible for general overseeing and caretaking of the property. Duties will include monitoring the condition of several properties as well as routine housekeeping and handyman responsibilities. Light gardening and the cleaning and maintenance of the swimming pool are also required. You should be comfortable liaising with contractors and other staff to ensure the smooth running of the estate. You will also be needed to act as an assistant to the family. The successful candidates will have superb DIY skills, basic knowledge of plumbing and pool operations, and be an experienced driver with a clean license and an excellent knowledge of West London for chauffeuring the family around.
Candidates should have relevant experience – ideally with a Middle Eastern family – but also be willing to learn new skills and responsibilities. The family uses the Estate primarily as their summer home and thus are in the UK only approximately 100 days per year. Hours are 6 days per week plus extended hours when the family is in residence, 5 days & 35 hours per week when the family are not in residence. A new position has become available for a friendly management couple to run this well established 6 bedroom guest house based in the New Forest.
Your duties will include cooking and serving breakfast, shopping for provisions, gardening, cleaning etc.
There is a cleaner and gardener employed.
You will need to make sure that all guests are checked in and out on time.
There is a 1 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, sitting room with shared kitchen. The entrance is through the kitchen on the other side of the property.

Experienced country house couple, required for a large rural farming and shooting estate in North East Scotland. Half way between Aberdeen and Inverness
Family of four including 2 children, one a weekly boarder and the other a full time boarder. There are older children who visit occasionally.
This is a new couple’s position as the current housekeeper will be retiring.
The housekeeper will run and manage the house on a daily basis, which will include assisting and supervising the cleaning staff, handle family laundry and generally ensure that the house runs smoothly. This is large and busy family home which does host private shoots during the season. The housekeeper will be required to meet and greet guests and help with table serve. A cook is available for special occasions, but occasionally preparation of simple family food to help the lady of the house who usually cooks for the family.
The Gentleman will be required to oversee the general maintenance programme for the property both inside and out. You should be pro active, have good all round handyman skills and maintain the property to a high standard. There are numerous cars on the estate and you will be expected to manage the fleet and undertake some driving duties.
Gardening staff are employed; you will need to liaise with the gardener in regards outdoor repairs etc.
The family have a holiday home in France and are away for an average of four months per year, during this time the couple will oversee security of the residence.
There are 2 working dogs that are also family pets.

Described as an associated garden and small landscape park, with the main features being a Topiary sculpture walk and circular rose garden.
An experienced and knowledgeable gardener is required to manage the day to day running and maintenance of the gardens, but a specialist person tends the topiary. Partner will act as housekeeper and should be prepared to undertake general cleaning, laundry and possibly some food preparation for approx 20 hours per week. Although if preferred, full time hours can be given if gardening assistance is provided.
The family have 2 small children but a full time nanny is employed.
This is a relaxed family environment.
