Nr Exeter -Devon
Essential Requirements – Previous experience in private residence or yachting.
Both must drive, own car and dog lover essential.
The position is for a full-time live-in couple consisting of a family cook/housekeeper together with a genuine all-round maintenance/houseman/gardener.
The property is a Grade I listed historic building in rural Devon not far from Exeter and close to the sea, due to its rural location driving licenses for both are essential. Own car is required, there is a car that can be used for shopping and other necessary work related trips.
The property is owned by a family with young children who live in London, this property is their weekend and holiday home. The family anticipate using the property at least every other weekend and every half term and holiday.
Hours of work are based around a 45-hour working week with flexibility expected regarding hours and days off, Tuesday and Wednesday can be taken as days off.
There are 30 days holiday per year inclusive of bank holidays, where it is necessary to work on bank holidays these days can be taken in Lieu.
There is a family dog who will remain at the property therefore it is important to be very comfortable with dogs and be willing to take excellent care of the dog.
The couples expected duties are:
Housekeeping:- To ensure the cleanliness of the main house and associated areas.
- Ensuring the property is clean, prepared and ready before every visit.
- Making of all beds before visits and on a daily basis.
- Laundry duties and clothes care for the family.
- To supervise and be responsible for the cleaner and other housekeeper.
- Supervising cleaning of bed linen by contractor.
- Stock control and purchasing of all cleaning and laundry products.
- Informing manager of any maintenance or other issues and ensuring correct care of all items within the property.
- Supervision of 2 young children when necessary ages 6-9.
Family cook:- Provisioning kitchen fully before family visits.
- Menu planning ahead of time with the principal.
- Preparation and cooking of healthy meals.
- Essential to be able to cater for dairy, nut and gluten free.
- Outside chefs can be brought in for large dinner parties
- Maximum groups possible would be 6 adults and 10 children.
- Sat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Sun Breakfast, Lunch and light dinner.
Handyperson/ Asst Gardener/Household assistant- Must be a genuine team player, happy to do whatever is required.
- Requires good basic DIY skills including painting and preparation skills.
- Able to assist in the garden with mowing and other tasks under the supervision of the gardener.
- Assisting with moving furniture, bringing in firewood, cleaning cars, clearing gutters, leaves, pressure washing patios, taking the bins out and a multitude of tasks as required.
- Happy to help the property manager with tasks if required.
- Able to help in the front of house when required.
- Responsible for ensuring security of the property and monitoring of the security system.
- Taking the dog for walks, feeding the dog and ensuring he is well cared for including veterinary visits.
Salary in the region of £60-65k gross per annum. Accommodation is included consisting of a 2 bedroom cottage with a garden. The role is not suitable for candidates with children but pets can be considered. (CC3706 )
