COOK/HOUSEKEEPER/PROPERTY MAINTENANCE/GROUNDS PERSON/DRIVER/SECURITY

Essential Requirements: Confident Cook to dinner party standard. Strong property maintenance skills. Both must drive. Fluent English and longevity in previous domestic roles. Caretakers of the property during the owner’s absence. 

An experienced, proactive and self-sufficient domestic couple are required to manage and care for a well-maintained immaculate 7-bedroom country house in a rural village location. The principals are a mature couple with adult family members who visit occasionally. Although this is the principal’s main residence they travel frequently and spend 5-6 months over the year abroad. 

Duties and experience required 

Cooking – fresh, healthy cuisine using good quality ingredients, ability to cater for small dinner parties. Confident cook of English, French, Italian, Mediterranean dishes. Menu Planning and fresh food shopping.

Housekeeping – including cleaning, washing and ironing, care of delicate fabrics. Care of Antiques, silver and fine china. Flower arranging and plant care. A part time housekeeper is also employed.

Table Service -Laying and serving at table.

Shopping /errands to include post office, dry cleaning, fresh food shopping etc.

Dog care – I medium size dog, assist with feeding, walking, vet visits and total care when the owners are away.

Maintenance gardening – occasional assistance to external gardening contractors when required. Assistance with watering etc during summer months.

Property Maintenance – Strong maintenance skills for general DIY indoor and outdoors, care of machinery and organisation/ supervision of any specialist contractors as required.

Security and caretaking of the property in the owner’s absence.

Care of the vehicles, occasional driving to include airport runs, local errands, organisation of servicing/MOT etc. 

This is a 5 day per week position. Weekend and evening working will be required when the principals are in residence. When the owners are not in residence the dog will need to be cared for. Essential that you are dog lovers and willing to accept care even during your time off. The vacancy is best suited to a couple who will make the accommodation their home. Average working 45 hrs per week with flexibility as required. 

Salary circa £80-85,000 Gross depending on previous experience. Use of a self-contained 2 bedroom cottage with own garden set apart from the main house. 2 days off per week. Both must drive. A car is provided for work. One well behaved pet is acceptable. Strictly Non-Smokers, excellent references and previous experience working in a similar role is essential. JUNE START (CC4281)
