Paul Atkinson

Having spent thirty successful years as a highly respected Stud and Estate Manager within the bloodstock industry, Paul entered the County Couples business as a partner in his wife Frances’ rapidly expanding company. County Couples has thrived over the years and today there is a fantastic database of highly suitable candidates and a battalion of clients who return whenever new positions arise in their households.

With Paul’s estate management experience, his knowledge and respect for the countryside and his genuine affinity with people, he truly appreciates the rural environment from the inside-out and understands the needs of both the clients and candidates in this niche element of the recruitment sector. The duties he undertook as Estate Manager included the direct supervision of specialised staff on the estate and he was responsible for hiring and supervising other employees (and contractors’) as part of his responsibilities. As Stud Farm and Estate Manager Paul had the authority to recommend a gifted employee for promotion, or a lack-lustre one for termination and he acted as the direct conduit between the estate staff and the principal(s). Paul has found it an easy step to be able to assist both the clients and the prospective candidates.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys horse-riding and also competes in carriage driving championships in the show rings of Britain. He and his wife share an equal passion for horses, the wildlife, and the countryside in general. They also enjoy the contrasts between working in London with their home in rural Norfolk.
